Lake Como, NJ (11/5/18): Beasley Media Group’s 95.9 WRAT-FM will celebrate 20 years of presenting the Sunday night specialty show, The Electric Ballroom, with a commemorative anniversary concert on Sunday, December 30th at the House of Independents (572 Cookman Avenue) in Asbury Park, New Jersey.
The event will feature Monster Magnet, along with members of Blue Oyster Cult and the Alice Cooper Band. The line-up will also include a performance by show Host Keith Roth’s band, Frankenstein 3000.
Original Co-hosts Keith Roth and Aimee Kristi created the concept for the program 20 years ago, after a discussion about the type of radio that was missing throughout their teenage years. The show, now hosted solely by Keith, concentrates on everything from 70’s glam to 80’s alternative, classic rock, eclectic rock and punk rock, the Electric Ballroom plays such artists that include the New York Dolls, Clash, Ramones, David Bowie, T-Rex, Replacements, Aerosmith, Cheap Trick and more.
The Electric Ballroom studios have hosted visits over the past two decades from some of the most influential member of the rock community, including Joe Strummer, John Paul Jones, Brian Johnson, Brian May, Ace Frehley and the late Joey Ramone.
A veteran musician for over thirty years, Keith\’s recorded, performed and/or toured with artists such as Generation X, Skid Row, The Runaways, The Damned, NY Dolls, Bon Jovi, Skid Row, The Ramones and many more. In addition, he has played on over 20 nationally released records.
“The thing that keeps me motivated to keep doing this is the impact it has on people,” said Roth. “Discovering things they weren\’t aware of; broadening their minds to so much great music and art that wasn\’t exposed to the masses. Sadly, over the past 20 years, we have lost a lot of friends who had a major impact on what I consider the musical landscape. We need to keep reminding people of their legacy and infecting the next generations with the timeless sounds. I’m always hoping to hear and share the next Velvet underground or The MC5.”
