Q105 FM to serve as flagship station for USF Football;
Spanish-language broadcast of football games to launch in 2026
TAMPA, AUG. 18, 2025 – University of South Florida Athletics and Beasley Media Group are proud to announce an exciting new radio partnership launching with the 2025-26 USF Athletics season. As part of a multi-year agreement secured by Bulls Athletic Properties, iconic Bay area station Q105 FM will become the flagship home of USF Football, delivering powerful coverage across the region.
The partnership also marks a historic milestone with the launching of the first-ever Spanish-language broadcast of Bulls Football on Playa 106.9 FM in the 2026 season, with the possibility of selected games airing in the 2025 season. In addition, USF Athletics audio content will be featured on 1010 AM Alumni Radio and Bulls athletics will make appearances and receive promotional support from other Bay area Beasley stations, including 92.5 Maxima, WiLD 94.1, 98.7 The Shark and 99.5 QYK.
“As we enter a new era of college athletics, the University of South Florida is committed to expanding our reach and deepening our connection with Bulls fans.” said USF Interim Vice President of Athletics Jay Stroman. “This exciting partnership with Beasley Media Group achieves both — introducing a groundbreaking Spanish-language broadcast and leveraging one of the Bay area’s most powerful, legacy FM signals to bring Bulls football to fans across the region.”
“We’re proud to team up with USF Athletics to deliver Bulls Football on Q105, one of the most iconic signals in Tampa Bay,” said Ron deCastro, Tampa Market President of Beasley Media Group. “This partnership is about more than just game coverage—it’s about connecting with fans, celebrating school pride, and expanding USF’s reach across our diverse community, including through the historic launch of Spanish-language broadcasts on Playa 106.9.”
USF Athletics is proud to welcome back a talented and familiar broadcast team for the 2025–26 season. Jim Louk returns for his 29th season as the “Voice of the Bulls,” joined once again by former USF and Green Bay Packers linebacker Sam Barrington as analyst, USF Athletics Senior Writer Joey Johnston as sideline reporter, and veteran engineer Brett Holcomb.
The broadcast team will also feature longtime voices of Bulls basketball, with Jim Lighthall and Darek Sharp contributing to pregame and postgame coverage. Lighthall will continue to call men’s basketball games alongside Johnston, while Sharp returns as the voice of women’s basketball, joined by former Bulls standout Brigid Merenda for home broadcasts.
The USF Football Pregame Show will continue its two-hour format, with the first hour—featuring exclusive interviews with coordinators and players—available on Bulls Unlimited and on-demand via GoUSFBulls.com, Spotify, Apple, Amazon, and other streaming platforms, with additional coverage on 1010 AM. The second hour and a 30-minute postgame show will air on Q105 FM and Bulls Unlimited.
BullsEye: The USF Coaches Show, hosted by Sharp, Johnston, and Bulls Insider Caylee Cottrell, will return for another season of in-depth conversations with Head Coach Alex Golesh and student-athletes. The show airs Thursdays throughout the season and is available on YouTube, Bulls Unlimited, podcast platforms, and 1010 AM.
