CheckpointXP® and Blaze Fire Games Announce The #MyHBCUGotEsportsGame® Tour

CheckpointXP®, the multimedia video game and esports content arm of Beasley Esports, in conjunction with Blaze Fire Games, a licensed digital online game provider and developer of micro-credentialing esports courses for students, announce the #MyHBCUGotEsportsGameTour. The educational and competitive college esports experience featuring 25 participating Historically Black Colleges and Universities will officially launch this year.

The Tour, produced by Blaze Fire Games, will consist of two-day virtual events, including an esports panel discussion, a student-hosted show with guest appearances from student and professional athletes, and esports competitions. One hundred Esports curriculum scholarships will be awarded to each of the 25 participating schools. CheckpointXP® and CheckpointXP On Campus® have been selected as the lead media and content partner for the Tour and will control all coverage for the tournaments.

“Bringing esports tournaments and educational opportunities to HBCU students helps bridge the digital divide, something Blaze Fire Games is committed to eradicating,” said Isiah Reese, CEO and Co-Founder of Blaze Fire Games. “We are especially excited that we have the support of the NBA2K and the National Basketball Players Association as we bring this to life on HBCU campuses. As a direct result of that support the Tour will kick off with a NBA2K Esports weekend. This will be the first NBA2K Esports event to take place across all 11 MEAC schools.  As the Tour schedule progresses, NBA2K Tournaments will be featured prominently in all weekend events.”

“This is the perfect next step to the HBCU Internship Program we announced together earlier this year,” said Leslie Fitzsimmons, Executive Director of Sales and Marketing for Beasley Esports “It is an amazing opportunity for the students and schools, providing career pathways through esports curriculum and putting them on the competitive collegiate esports stage for the first time, creating a new legacy.”

Complete details will be available in the coming weeks.
