A beloved voice in Philadelphia radio for more than 50 years, including her time as a WMMR on-air personality, Cyndy Drue continues to connect listeners to the music and artists they love as a current on-air host at Classic Rock 102.9 WMGK. Now, she’s heading back to where it all began, as she prepares to deliver the 2026 Commencement Address at her alma mater, Centenary University, on Saturday, May 16th.
For Cyndy, this moment is especially meaningful. Her love for broadcasting started at Centenary, where she hosted a show on the campus station, WNTI. That early experience sparked a career that would span five decades – and counting.
Many listeners remember Cyndy for Street Beat on WMMR, the groundbreaking show she created and hosted that helped spotlight emerging regional bands and became a staple of Philadelphia’s music scene.
Along the way, she’s interviewed some of the biggest names in music – from Mick Jagger and Rod Stewart to Bono and members of legendary bands like Fleetwood Mac, Van Halen, and Journey—bringing fans closer to the stories behind the songs.
Today, Cyndy continues to share her passion for music and storytelling as a radio personality on Classic Rock 102.9 WMGK in Philadelphia, where she hosts a weekly show every Saturday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. She is also the producer of the Classic Rock Archive YouTube channel, where she interviews legendary musicians and helps preserve iconic rock interviews and performances.
A lifelong learner and creative professional, she has also studied Digital Media at Moore College of Art and Design. In addition to her media career, Cyndy is the co-author of Fred Wagner: An American Painter (1860–1940), celebrating her family’s artistic legacy.
As she returns to Centenary to address the Class of 2026, Cyndy will reflect on the
place that helped launch her career—sharing stories, lessons, and inspiration drawn from a lifetime in media as she continues to inspire new generations to pursue their passions and embrace the opportunities ahead!
