Beasley Media Group announces WRXK-FM Afternoon Drive Personalities Stan & Haney have signed a multiyear renewal agreement to their presence on 96k Rock in Ft. Myers.
Stan joined the station in 1991 and Haney followed in 1993. Over the past 19 years, the duo has raised thousands of dollars headed up the Stan and Haney DRAFT Fund to provide important direct release and assistance to Florida troops.
“Part of the Beasley content strategy is to retain the best local talent at our station brands and Stan & Haney are certainly among the best,” said Beasley Media Group Chief Content Officer Justin Chase. “I’m glad they will be continuing to entertain the 96k-Rock Fort Myers audience for the foreseeable future.”
“Stan & Haney are legendary in this market. Entertaining three generations of listeners over the years is remarkable,” said Vice President and Market Manager AJ Lurie. “They are as talented as it gets and it\’s wonderful to be on the same team as them!”
“Haney and I have spent virtually our entire adult lives working for Beasley and 96k-Rock,” said Stan. “They are like family to us.” Added Haney, “I appreciate them taking a chance with us all those years ago. I think it benefited both of us.”
I just hate the thought of Stan and Haney leaving, but I am happy for them at the same time. They deserve to retire, for sure. I used to go to there broadcast promotions back in the early 90s. It was Joe, Stan and Mark Haney (intern), one time, at the old Glades Herp, off rt. 80. I mentioned that I was a mailman on Sanibel, and that I delivered mail to the pretty young lady that owned the 99X radio station. Mabey I sensationalized the story a bit. They asked me if they could mabey make a story about it, on air. “Sure, I said”. The next day I was listening to K-rock at work and was laughing at Mark Haney talking about a guy named M_ _ _ _, climbing up a ladder, watching her get dressed in her bedroom. It was funny as hell until I realized it was me he was talking about. I knew her, super sweet with there two new, Porsche convertible 911 turbos parked in the garage, in there Bayfront home. My ass was grass because I knew she listened to K Rock back then. When I got to her house to deliver her mail that afternoon, there she was, her finger motioning me towards her. I knew she had listened to K-rock that day! I said, “I’m sorry miss _ _ _ _ _ _ _” . It got out of hand. None of that happened, I said! She said, “about that” laughing. That was very entertaining. Just cool it. No problem, I said. She and I walked into her garage where she had a big bag of Christmas gifts for me. Later, I called the guys and told them what had happened and to “Tone” it down, please! Another close one, as a Sanibel mailman. Good luck guys. Can’t believe your gone 🥲🥲!
