Beasley Media Group announces 98.5 The Sports Hub’s Tony Massarotti will add TV color commentating duties for NESN during the upcoming Boston Red Sox Season. Since its inception in 2009, the \”Felger & Mazz\” show on 98.5 The Sports Hub has achieved unprecedented industry ratings success.
The show won the prestigious 2019 Marconi Award for Major Market Personality of the Year and was most recently voted the #1 afternoon show in the country by Barrett Sports Media. In addition, Tony hosts the #1 rated “The Baseball Hour with Tony Mazz” on 98.5 during the baseball season.
Massarotti has been covering the Boston sports scene for over 30 years. From 1994-2008, the veteran sports journalist was the Red Sox beat writer for the Boston Herald where he covered the 2004 and 2007 World Series championship teams. He is the co-author of “Big Papi: My Story of Big Dreams and Big Hits”, with David Ortiz, and “Knuckler: My Life with Baseball’s Most Confounding Pitch, written with Tim Wakefield.
\”I\’m extremely grateful for this opportunity, but it was obviously a unique circumstance that required the sacrifices and cooperation of many people,” said Massarotti “I can\’t say enough about the support and open-mindedness of the people at Beasley Media Group, The Sports Hub, NESN and the Red Sox for their parts in making this work. In all my time reporting on and talking about baseball, I can\’t ever remember being more excited about an approaching Boston baseball season than I am for this one.\”
“Tony Massarotti has an extensive background covering Red Sox and has established himself as the premier voice of baseball on Boston’s radio airwaves,” said Beasley Boston Vice President and Market Manager Mary Menna. “His background and baseball knowledge makes him a great catch for NESN.”
“Tony’s passion for baseball has never wavered over the years,” said 98.5 The Sports Hub’s Program Director, Rick Radzik. “He loves the game and enjoys talking about the game. Now he gets the opportunity to bring this knowledge and some unique commentary to the Red Sox fans across the New England region.”
