DETROIT, MI (December 4, 2018): 101 WRIF-FM will team up with The Detroit Renegades to host the first ever Detroit Renegades ESPORTS Live! on Sunday, December 9, 2018 from 1pm to 4pm at Beacon Park in downtown Detroit. The free event will feature The Detroit Renegades Fortnite Team conducting live gameplay for fans while also hosting a variety of activities, such as workshops on gaming “like a pro”, question and answer sessions, meet & greets, fan signings and more.
Detroit Renegades ESPORTS Live! will be hosted by 101 WRIF-FM and Checkpoint XP, the only nationally syndicated Esports radio show (based in the Motor City) that is heard daily on the Checkpoint XP channel on Twitch and weekly in the U.S. and Canada on the Westwood One Radio Network.
The station is excited to team up with The Detroit Renegades to bring the excitement of an ESPORTS event to downtown Detroit for the first time. In addition to interacting with the Fortnite team, there will be food and drink available, along with the opportunity to win gear from Hyper X and Alienware from 101 WRIF-FM and The Detroit Renegades. The event will take place in a heated tent space at Beacon Park and is open to all ages.
The Detroit Renegades is an ESPORTS organization which features teams in various games, including Fortnite, Counter Strike, and HALO. The team is owned by former Detroit Piston and current Golden State Warrior, Jonas Jerebko. Based in Detroit, Michigan, The Detroit Renegades feature top players and teams from around the world who compete globally in ESPORTS tournaments.
