ONLINE CHARITABLE APEX LEGENDS EVENT ANNOUNCED

Beasley Esports, Gaud-Hammer Gaming Group (G3) and Ultimate Gaming Championship (UGC) are proud to partner for Shutdown Showdown, an online, national Apex Legends charity tournament to promote and reward those fighting against the spread of COVID-19 by staying home.

Shutdown Showdown is a five-week online tournament taking place between March 31 and April 28. Teams of three will compete against one another in Apex Legends custom server matches on UGC’s competitive gaming platform, UGC Esports, for a chance at winning Mystery Packs filled with gaming gear, snacks, and other fun prizes facilitated by Gratsy and our generous sponsors. Shutdown Showdown sponsor prizes will be announced on a weekly basis. Participants can additionally enter by themselves and find teammates by utilizing the recruiting channel in UGC’s Discord server.

Shutdown Showdown will emphasize the importance of staying home and practicing safe health measures through its broadcast, messaging, and other content opportunities. A total of 40% of each registrant’s fee will be donated to the No Kid Hungry campaign, a campaign working to get kids the meals they need, during school closures and all year long.

As a Media & Content Outreach Partner, Beasley Esports will collaborate with UGC and G3 on content initiatives for both broadcast and social media, as well as providing media coverage from its esports and gaming platform, CheckpointXP.

“The gaming community is tightly-knit and the instinct to come together is strong, especially during this time of global crisis,” said Anthony Gaud, CEO of Gaud-Hammer Gaming Group. Esports organizations such as UGC, Beasley Esports and the Gaud-Hammer Gaming Group are utilizing their ability to move events from the real world to the online world as a means to stay home, keep calm, carry on, and help others in need. The ‘Shutdown Showdown’ was conceived as a means to utilize the time gamers are being asked to stay indoors into something meaningful and impactful. With proceeds going to \’No Kid Hungry,’ this event will help provide vulnerable kids with nutritious food during these extremely uncertain times. If successful, the ‘Shutdown Showdown’ will continue after the COVID-19 crisis has passed, so that gamers can continue to make the world a better place.”

\”Our goal has always been to provide the best possible experience for esports fans, no matter how big or small, every event is a major. We\’re thrilled to be bringing our live event edge and experience to a digital platform for people to activate during this time of quarantine, and stress the importance of staying home to promote well-being. The gaming community has continued to come together to push this message, and we\’re pleased to be getting involved by partnering with No Kid Hungry on Shutdown Showdown to generate proceeds for their important work.\” says Matt Jackson, Founder & CEO of Ultimate Gaming Championship.”

“CheckpointXP and Esports are committed to bringing the power of the gaming community to the forefront as we fight to counteract the impact of COVID-19 and the effects it is having on families across the country,” said Beasley Esports Chief Operating Officer Lori Burgess. “We applaud those players that are choosing to win for others.”

Entry into the Shutdown Showdown is $30 per team, with 40% of each registration fee going to No Kid Hungry. Learn more and how to participate in Shutdown Showdown by visiting: https://ugcevents.gg/shutdownshowdown.
